Using Email To Promote Affiliate Offers

As anyone who has done any affiliate marketing knows, many promoters provide standard email copy for promotion of their offers.

In some cases, this is tried and tested copy although in the case of product launches, this is impossible as the product has yet to be released and so the copy has probably never been tested.

Promoters provide this copy to make the task of promoting their product / service easier for the affiliate … particularly those who don’t have the time to sit down and prepare their own copy.

However, there are some major downsides in using this email copy:-

• Whilst the copy may be good, it is probably written in a different way to your normal promotions and therefore does not convey the same sincerity or belief factor that your usual copy carries.
• Multiple promoters may end up using the same copy and as a result, a potential reader will receive the same email from several promoters. This makes it very obvious that you are simply sending out a standard promotion and that can impact on your reputation – i.e. you reader may perceive that you are lazy … or simply doing a money grab.
• The copy most likely does not include your personal experience with the product – or part of it at least. This is important. You are conveying a recommendation and therefore, if you haven’t personally received a benefit from it yourself, then why are you recommending it?

Most sales letters – especially in the Internet Marketing arena – are full of gimmicks and hype. Those are hard enough to overcome on their own.

However, if the email that you send introducing the promotion is strong and the above factors are addressed, then your readers will be swayed by your recommendation and ignore the gimmicks and hype in their eagerness to find out if they can get the same benefits you achieved.

My recommendation: ALWAYS write your own email copy for any affiliate promotion you perform.
